Terri Tarr, director for the Center for Teaching and Learning at IUPUI, has been selected as the first FACET Affiliate Member.
Tarr has led multiple projects that support collaboration, innovation, and community, which are three core values of FACET. These projects include planning for the the physical remodeling of IUPUI’s Center for Teaching and Learning building, developing the Scholarly Teaching Taxonomy, and launching programs related to the Transparency in Learning and Teaching (TILT) initiative. Tarr is also active in the broader IUPUI community, serving on multiple councils and search committees, including the Forum Council and the Program Review and Assessment Committee. She also co-facilitates promotion and tenure workshops, and participates with the Division of Undergraduate Education, furthering her presence and impact on the teaching and learning community.
Having served as an associate faculty member, Tarr tirelessly advocates for supporting part-time faculty members through teaching workshops, an annual conference, and other professional development resources and opportunities. Her continuous support for educators and the teaching and learning community, among her other impressive accomplishments; have been recognized through her receipt of the IUPUI Women’s Leadership Award (2019) and multitude of Teaching Excellence Recognition awards. Tarr’s ability to lead, impressive work ethic, and collaborative attitude are just a few characteristics that make her an extraordinary fit for the FACET Affiliate Member position.
