IU Bloomington’s Future Faculty Teaching Fellows (FFTF) program gives doctoral students an opportunity to spend one or two semesters as a half-time faculty member at another IU campus or university. The fellows experience what it’s like to teach and be a faculty member there, preparing them for successful academic careers at similar campuses. Before their teaching assignments begin, fellows participate in the FFTF Summer Institute. Co-sponsored by FACET and the University Graduate School, the three-day institute prepares fellows to teach in different academic environments.
FACET members design and lead the institute, which seeks to:
- Increase fellows’ familiarity with students at other IU campuses
- Improve their knowledge of faculty realities at other IU campuses
- Expand their repertoire of course-design strategies
- Encourage self-assessment and reflection on teaching
