Dr. James E. Mumford Excellence in Extraordinary Teaching Awards
We recently hosted The Many Facets of FACET! A Spring Celebration of Teaching on April 14, 2023 to honor FACET inductees and nominees, and campus awardees. Associate Directors
Clark Barwick, Ph.D. is a Senior Lecturer in Communication at the Kelley School of Business. His teaching and scholarship focus on writing, African American studies, and the global coffee trade. Dr. Barwick is an affiliate faculty member with the IU Center for Research on Race & Ethnicity in Society, the IU Food Institute, and African Studies. He has published on the pedagogies of race, and he is a two-time recipient of the IU Trustees Teaching Award.

Meghan Porter received her B.S. in Chemistry from Bucknell University and her Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from Indiana University. In 2015, Dr. Porter became a member of the teaching faculty in the Department of Chemistry, teaching courses in inorganic and general chemistry. Dr. Porter is a Virtual Inorganic Pedagogical Electronic Resource Fellow, a national group of inorganic chemists interested in understanding how to better help students learn chemistry through analysis of student motivation and learning practices. Dr. Porter was awarded the Indiana University Trustees Teaching Award for Non-Tenure Track Faculty in 2019 and was inducted as a member of the Faculty Academy on Excellence in Teaching in 2021. In 2023, she was awarded the President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching and Learning Technologies.
