Each applicant for the Mack Fellowship must submit an application proposing a Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) research project.
Mack Fellows must be full-time IU faculty members, including tenured faculty, faculty holding tenurable appointments, lecturers, and librarians with a faculty rank.
The projects should be innovative yet attainable, and well grounded in the emerging body of knowledge about SoTL. They should also have a projected important effect on the applicant’s campus, at IU, in SoTL, and/or on scholarly teaching more broadly. Dissemination through poster sessions and submission to a peer-reviewed scholarly journal are expectations of the fellowship. The innovation and significance of projects and the dissemination of conclusions must be discussed in the proposal.
Applications will be judged on the criteria below. We also recommend reviewing our sample fellow proposals and proposal tips.
