Robin Morgan, Director of the Institute for Learning and Teaching Excellence at IU Southeast, former FACET Director (2011-2015), and Professor of Psychology, has helped develop a university-wide online module series that provides high-quality, evidence-based materials on effective teaching practices, and it is titled “Teaching for Student Success: An Evidence-Based Approach.”
These online courses and modules teach educators, whether they’re new or have been teaching for years, how to design their courses, assessments, and other aspects of instruction. The evidence-based research demonstrates why educating in these ways is so effective, whether the courses are online, in-person, or hybrid. Morgan adds, “These modules help busy instructors work independently to hone their teaching, incorporating evidence-based educational tactics.”
Over 1,000 faculty and staff members have enrolled in these modules. The first cohort is completing modules this week, May 11-15, and there are two more cohorts planned for summer 2020.
Morgan’s experience includes creating and implementing programs like the FACET peer review training modules. Her passion for promoting excellence in teaching and learning, has made her an ideal developer for these online courses. Due to her diligence and expertise in online course quality and development, she also recently received the President’s Award for Teaching and Learning Technology.
