Katie is a 2018 FACET inductee and has been engaged in membership and selection activities with FACET since then. She started her service with FACET as a member of the Statewide Selection Committee, moving to chair that committee until the organizational restructure in 2024. She is also one of the founders of the Transformative Teaching podcast. Katie has been instrumental in updating membership selection and application policies and creating cohesion across levels of FACET membership recruitment and selection. Katie has been a FACET certified peer reviewer since 2016.
Katie is dedicated to peer mentorship and teaching excellence initiatives at the department, school, campus, and university levels. She routinely facilitates workshops for her department and school about inclusive classroom best practices, assurance of learning, and peer reviewing. Finally, she is a longtime member of the campus’s academic misconduct appeals review board and has chaired nearly 100 hearings.
In addition to her service work and FACET directorship, Katie is an experienced international tax consultant with extensive knowledge in OECD and IRC transfer pricing documentation, audit assistance, and tax planning for international transfer pricing. Katie’s teaching expertise is in federal taxes and decision making, global financial analysis, international taxation, and sustainability reporting at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Katie has an MBA (International Business) from Loyola University Chicago and a BS in Business (Accounting and Marketing) from Indiana University Bloomington. She has won numerous department, school, and campus teaching awards including the Bloomington Faculty Council’s Inclusive Excellence Award in 2024; the Kelley School of Business Inaugural Undergraduate Assurance of Learning Award in 2024; the Kelley School of Business Panschar Undergraduate Teaching Award in 2023; and the Kelley School of Business Innovative Teaching Award in 2020.
