Member Induction

Induction Ceremony

New FACET Members selected through the traditional nomination path or President's Teaching Award path are celebrated at an Induction Ceremony held during that year's Annual Retreat. Incoming FACET Affiliate Members participate in the ceremony as well as any prior year's inductees who weren't able to attend their ceremony.

The Induction Ceremony is typically on the evening of the first day of the retreat with a rehearsal held earlier in the afternoon. Each campus will have their Vice Chancellor, Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, or other campus leader participate in the ceremony to present the member(s) from their campus with a pin and certificate.

The ceremony begins with welcoming remarks from the FACET Executive Director who will also introduce the ceremony host or co-hosts. The ceremony goes campus by campus, before introducing new members from a particular campus the campus leader is called to the stage to congratulate that campus' new members. The host then goes inductee by inductee as we welcome our new members. New members will engage in some conversation with the hosts and receive their certificate, padfolio, and pin.

Retreat Registration and Lodging

Inductees are FACET’s guests at the retreat. FACET covers their registration fees and lodging (based on two new members sharing a room). If a non-shared room is preferred, FACET will cover half of the lodging expense. Other accomodations (accessibility, room location, etc.) may be available upon request. All lodging reservations must be booked through the FACET office, not through the hotel. Mileage reimbursement or per diem is not provided.

Further details and instructions will be shared with the inductees via email.
